this from Councillor Martin Rhodes:
Last winter, for the first time, Land and Environmental Services (LES) and Glasgow Community Safety Services (GCSS) undertook a snow warden pilot. GCSS recruited volunteer snow wardens from their established Neighbourhood Improvement Volunteer network and LES provided them with training, grit and snow kits. The 2011 pilot was a success, and this winter it is hoped to increase the number of snow wardens to provide one in each of the fifty six neighbourhoods in the city. Once again wardens have been recruited from the established NIV network and already LES/GCSS have four confirmed Wardens for the Kelvindale/Kelvinside Neighbourhood.
Recruitment is an ongoing process for Neighbourhood Improvement Volunteers, if anyone is interested they should call Carol Lang, tel. 276 7428 for more information.
