Culture 2014 & Festival 2014

In true bureaucratic fashion, the cultural programme to go with the Commonwealth Games is split into two bits, with different names.

Culture 2014 is the big Scotland-wide festival, and Festival 2014 is the Glasgow bit around the Games themselves.

All the details of both are here!

police advice on cars, pavements and dogs

There have been a number of car break-ins recently. Report any suspicious activity to the police on 101 and this will get more police into our area: their current strategy is to flood target areas with officers. If you’re unlucky enough to be a victim, don’t tidy up the damage, but leave it to the scene of crime people to deal with, as they may be able to locate valuable evidence.

The police suggest that when a car has been parked blocking the pavement, you report this by phone on 101.

Community Safety Glasgow’s Environmental Control Unit to report dog fouling is on 0141 287 0354.

2014 Host City Volunteers

Host City Volunteers are the ‘meeters and greeters’ who will welcome the world to Glasgow during the Commonwealth Games.

The Host City Volunteers are NOT Glasgow 2014 clyde-siders but will be based around the city near the cultural hubs and sporting venues directing and helping people during Games time.

It’s a great opportunity for anyone who can commit to a minimum of 4 shifts, for up to 5 hours a shift, between 23 July and 3 August to get involved in the biggest event Glasgow has ever seen!

  • Name of Company
  • Address of Company
  • Vehicle Description/Registration
  • Type of Work
  • Consumer Address

Trading Standards also have materials, window stickers and a limited supply of call blocking units that can be made available to consumers and those concerned about bogus callers. 0141 287 6681
