this from Councillor Letford:
Last week saw the inaugural Maryhill/Kelvin ward walk: no abandoned fridge, pothole or broken pavement in Maryhill was safe! This week sees the spotlight turn upon the Kelvin area. I will be walking around Kelvinside/Kelvindale this Thursday (14 March). If anyone wishes to join me, I will start from Churchill’s newsagents in Kirklee at Gt Western Rd from 11am, gradually making my way towards Kelvindale train station. I will provide the camera and pens!
Our Community Sergeant David Taylor from Maryhill Police Station has been monitoring the pedestrian crossing on Kelvindale Road at Ferngrove Avenue, near to Cleveden Secondary School.
The road markings around the crossing have pretty much worn away, so he has asked the city council to repaint these as soon as possible, and give consideration to stronger GIVE WAY markings at the surrounding junctions. In the meantime he’ll be keeping an eye on the junction, particularly at school closing time.
this from Councillor John Letford –
I have just spoken to First Group regarding their proposals for the no.11. Supposedly, this will be withdrawn and replaced with the no.44, which will apparently increase frequency to one every 20 mins (rather than the current 30 mins). Therefore, if you live in Kelvindale and wish to go into town, your service provision supposedly increases. It seems though, that if you wish to go the other way (from Anniesland Cross to Knightswood and beyond to Clydebank) then you will have to change services at Anniesland Cross. The consultation period has been extended to the 6th March and you can access their plans at
www.firstgroup.com/glasgow
If you wish to speak about this further, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
A draft plan is in place to convert the old Dawsholm Park depot into allotments, with raised beds, polytunnels and composting facilities: click here to see the plans as they now stand, and let us know if you want to be part of the consultation.

How do you feel about our local foxes? Are they an extra family pet or a nuisance and a health hazard?
John Boyd from Land and Environmental Services will be at February’s community council meeting to give us the city council’s view. Thursday 21 February, 7.30pm at Cleveden Secondary School.
Details in this poster about a one-day event on 20 February in Maryhill about health services in North West Glasgow.
from Councillor Martin Rhodes:
At the last Community Council meeting, the issue was raised with me of trees blocking the street lights on Weymouth Drive. I raised the matter with Land and Environmental Services and the trees have now been inspected by an Arboricultural officer and works have been instructed to cut back vegetation to 8 street lamps where the light is being obscured and to remove some young growth from the base of the lamp posts.
I have been told that this work will be undertaken within a 12 week period commencing 4 February 2013.
